Mitch's Board

All the Surfboards used as the canvas are retired boards. They have all been in the surf and have now found a new purpose. Great steps have been taken to hide the boards rugged past although a few small flaws may remain on close inspection. They remain a part of the history of these pieces. Each boards history, from the original shaper to the last owner, has been researched and will be sent with the art piece.

The fins are also all real and have many shapes and sizes. They are all new and unfortunately, other than being made for the surf, don't have a surf history. I found it very hard to restore original fins.

All the boards can be surfed, although some have had the fins removed for display. They are weather resistant, meaning water will not harm them. I would not recommend surfing them as it might bring back the rugged past. You could ding it. Although all the paint and epoxy that was used on these pieces has been rated UV resistant and surpasses normal surfboard building techniques, all these pieces should not be displayed in direct sunlight for any prolonged period of time.
